Light heavyweight fighter Ryan Jimmo has died at the age of 34 years old. Several media outlets are reporting that Jimmo was the victim of a hit and run incident that took place in the early morning hours of Sunday June 26.
According to multiple reports Jimmo was involved in some sort of altercation outside the H2O Lounge in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Witnesses state that Jimmo walked up to a vehicle occupied by two men. When Jimmo walked away from the vehicle the driver accelerated and struck Jimmo before fleeing the scene.
As of this writing the two men are still at large.
Jimmo (19-5) made his professional MMA debut in 2007 and after losing his first bout he went on to win 17 consecutive fights. He made his UFC debut in 2012 and scored a highlight reel knockout of Anthony Perosh that was the second fastest KO in UFC history.
Jimmo would alternate wins and losses during his time in the UFC and was last seen inside the octagon in May of 2015 when he lost a unanimous decision to Francimar Barroso. His bout against Barroso was the his last professional bout.
