UFC strawweight standout Paige VanZant will be joining this season’s “Dancing with the Stars” cast. She will be the third mixed martial artist to compete on the competitive game show. Former UFC champions Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell were both former participants on the ABC show. The new season of DWTS is set to debut on March 21st and run through May.

VanZant has been a huge blimp on the radar of the UFC since she joined the company in 2014. He fighting ability and marketable look has seen her popularity rise among the MMA fan base. The UFC recognized the potential of VanZant early on and began featuring her on the main card of several high profile events. Her rise has not been met without criticism by fans and her peers. She received an exclusive deal with Reebok soon after her first bout with the company prompting many to cry favoritism. According to Fox Sports,  VanZant’s own management and not the UFC pushed for the young fighter to appear on the show.

She last competed inside the octagon back in December of 2105. She was defeated by former “Ultimate Fighter” runner-up Rose Namajunas in a rather entertaining fight.

“Dancing with the Stars” will air on Mondays on ABC.
