Tecia Torres did not have to wait long to find out who her new opponent at UFC 194 would be. Just a few days after Michelle Waterson was forced out of the bout with a knee injury the UFC announced on Friday that current RFA strawweight champion Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger would be stepping in to face “Tiny Tornado”.
Jones-Lybarger (6-1) is currently riding a four-fight win streak. Her latest win came at RFA 31 in early October. It was there she defeated Zolia Frausto via a unanimous decision. She made her professional MMA debut in 2012 in the Invicta FC organization. Before heading to the RFA she spent time in the King of the Cage organization.
Torres (6-0) is 2-0 in the UFC with unanimous decisions wins over Angela Magana and Angela Hill. She was a member of the Ultimate Fighter season in which the strawweight division was debuted. She has notable victories over Paige VanZant and Rose Namajunas during her time with Invicta FC.
UFC 194 takes place on December 12 live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and can be seen live on pay-per-view. The night will be headlined by the featherweight championship bout between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. The night will also feature a middleweight title fight as Chris Weidman looks to defend his championship against Luke Rockhold.
