Matt Brown Out Against Kelvin Gastelum with Injury

Yet another UFC main event has suffered a loss due to a fighter injury. Welterweight Matt Brown has been forced out of his fight against Kelvin Gastelum after suffering an ankle injury while preparing for the bout.

Brown was classy in a Twitter response regarding his injury and missing the bout:

The injury is a pretty big setback for Brown who is trying to get back to the top of the contender’s list in the welterweight division. After going on a seven fight win streak that stretched over the span of two years he lost back to back bouts against Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks that stifled his championship hopes. He was last seen in defeating Tim Means back in July with a first round submission and there was no doubt that a win over former TUF winner Gastelum would have put Brown right back into the title mix.

As of this writing the UFC has not announced whether or not a replacement would be found for Gastelum or if the young fighter would be pulled from the card all together.
