On Monday it was announced that welterweight Matt Brown has suffered an ankle injury that would force him out of his bout against Kelvin Gastelum. Today we learned that Neil Magny will step in and face Gastelum at the UFC’s Fight Night event in Mexico.
Magny has a little less than three weeks to prepare for Gastelum who is a former Ultimate Fighter winner but was preparing for an upcoming bout against Stephen Thompson in January at UFC 195. The UFC did not comment on the status of Thompson for that event. Magny is also a training partner of Matt Brown so he will have insight on how to prepare for Gastelum. Magny is 8-2 in his last 10 bouts and is coming off a big win over Erick Silva this past August.
UFC Fight Night will also have the TUF: Latin America finale and will take place on November 21 from Monterrey, Mexico and air live on Fox Sports 1.
