Jose Aldo Suffers Rib Injury, Fight with McGregor Now in Limbo

What could be the worst piece of news for MMA fans and the UFC broke on Tuesday when it was reported that featherweight champion Jose Aldo had suffered a rib injury and may be forced to miss his highly anticipated bout with Conor McGregor at UFC 189 on July 11.

It was first reported by the Brazilian site Combate that Aldo had suffered the injuring during a sparring session. It is believed to be a fracture of the rib and a time table of three to four weeks will be needed for the injury to heal. No official word has come from Aldo or his camp on the possibility of the fighter pulling out of the fight.

The UFC has invested a ton of money and time in the promotion of this fight and if Aldo were to pull out now it would be one of the biggest blows the company would have ever received.

UFC 189 is scheduled to take place on July 11 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
