Saturday August 1 will be a loaded day for MMA fans. For months now we have known that the UFC will be in Brazil for UFC 190 but also on that night the WSOF will hold a card that will have three title bouts on it. President Ray Sefo broke the news of the third title fight being added to MMA Junkie on Wednesday.
The latest edition to the card will be a bout for the inaugural WSOF flyweight championship. Undefeated Russian fighter Magomed Bibulatov (9-0) will take on Las Vegas’ own Donovan Frelow (4-0) for the right to be first man to hold the WSOF flyweight title.
Bibulatov is a recent addition to the WSOF roster whose signing was announced just last week. WSOF 22 will mark the first time Bibulatov will compete in the United States. Frelow has one previous bout with the organization and that came back in January at WSOF 17 where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Taylor McCorriston.
The flyweight tittle bout joins a card that will already have a welterweight championship fight between Rousimar Palhares and Jake Shields and a bantamweight title bout with champion Marlon Moraes defending his belt against Sheymon Moraes. Also on the card will be the MMA return of decorated striker Tyrone Spong as he takes on Mike Kyle.
WSOF 22 will take place on August 1 from the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be seen on the NBC Sports Network.
