Lyoto Machida and Yoel Romero to Meet at UFC Fight Night in Florida

It looks like the Dragon will rise once again. Lyoto Machida will take on Yoel Romero in a five round main event bout that will take place on June 27 in Florida. This particular event was originally scheduled to take place in Brazil as it was going to have the TUF: Brazil 4 finale fights on the card but the UFC announced the change on Friday. No exact reason for the change in venue and country was given.

Machida (22-6) will be making a quick turn around as he was last seen inside the octagon in mid April. He lost a very disappointing bout to Luke Rockhold via submission. The fight was seen by many as a number one contender match for the middleweight championship. Machida was dominated by Rockhold’s size and strength from the opening bell before getting trapped in a rear naked choke. He will now look to get back on the winning side of things when he takes on Romero.

Yoel Romero (9-1,) who is coming back from a knee injury that forced him out of his bout with Jacare Souza, will look to cement his place in the top of the middleweight division by beating the former UFC champion. Romero only turned pro six years ago but he has already established himself as one of the top middleweights in the world. The native of Cuba has used his Olympic wrestling base to dominate his opponents had has notable wins over Tim Kennedy, Brad Tavares, and Derek Brunson. He is also undefeated in the UFC since debuting for the company in 2013.

UFC Fight Night in Florida will take place on June 27 from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Also on the card is a pair of welterweight bouts as Erick Silva will face Rick Story and Lorenz Larkin will take on Santiago Ponzinibbio.
