Even though he is already the WSOF middleweight champion, David Branch could not pass up the opportunity to challenge himself and enter the tournament to crown the light heavyweight champion. Branch came one step closer to becoming the first man to hold two titles in two different weight classes simultaneously. Branch received a new opponent on Thursday after Ronny Markes became extremely dehydrated after the weigh-ins and was forced off the card and was replaced by Jesse McElligott. It only took Branch two rounds to completely choke out McElligott and win his bout. The win pushed Branch’s win streak to six and he is 8-2 in his last ten bouts.
The co-main event of the night saw former WSOF lightweight title challenger Nick Newell get back on the winning side of things by earning a tough decision win over Joe Condon. Also, part-time crime fighter/part-time fighter, Ben Fodor a.k.a. Phoenix Jones lost his debut for WSOF by decision against Emmanuel Walo. Full results can be seen below.
