Will Brooks reign as Bellator lightweight champion continued after grinding out a unanimous decision victory over Dave Jansen. Coming into the bout Brooks predicted a finish but that was hardly the case as Jansen proved to be a much tougher fight than expected for the champion.
Jansen came out blazing and seemed like he would not have anything left in the gas tank after the first round. Brooks started to take control of the bout in the second round but it was clear both men were wearing each other out. It was not until the final two rounds were Brooks turned it up and showed his championship will and earned the victory.
In the nights co-main event kickboxing champion Joe Schilling entered the world of mixed martial arts against Rafael Carvalho and for the fourth time in six fights he lost. Schilling’s striking skills are world-class but as we all know that is only part of MMA. Though this lost to Carvalho was a decision lost, three of his four loses in MMA have come by submission. For Carvalho, his win streak is now at 11 fights, in fact after he lost his first pro fight he has not tasted defeat since. Below are the full results for Bellator 136.
