The “B” sample that Jon Jones had requested to be tested steaming from his UFC 214 drug test has come back positive for a banned substance. ESPN was the first to report the failed test sample. As a result of the failed sample Jones could face up to a four-year suspension.
Jones’ “A” sample tested positive for Turinabol, an anabolic steroid, Jones and his team requested the “B” sample be tested as well. The request is a normal move for athletes but rarely does the “B” sample negate the earlier findings. Jones has remained adamant that he does not know how steroids entered his system.
Jones defeated Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 via a third round TKO. The win will more than likely be ruled a no contest and could be officially stripped of the light heavyweight title by the UFC.
This is the second time Jones has failed a drug test, he previously failed a drug test prior to his UFC 200 bout against Cormier.
