Nunes Retains Title in Tightly Contested Bout: UFC 215 Results

Amanda Nunes did what she need to in order to retain her bantamweight championship on Saturday night. She took home a split decision victory over challenger Valentina Shevchenko in a tightly contested main event bout at UFC 215. It was tightly contested because there was not much action from either fighter in the opening rounds. A late takedown in the fifth round by Nunes could have been the decisive factor for the judges. In all it was not an impressive performance for Nunes who is still in the shadow of former champions Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, and Miesha Tate.
