Anthony Johnson Forced Out of Fight with Glover Teixeira Due to Injury

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has been forced to withdraw from his bout with Glover Teixiera due to an undisclosed injury. News of Anthony’s injury was reported on Saturday. Johnson was scheduled to face Teixeira on July 23 in the co-main event for the UFC on Fox card.

The anticipated light heavyweight showdown could have carried heavy implications in the title picture. Johnson (21-5) lost to Daniel Cormier for the vacant light heavyweight championship but bounced back nicely with back-to-back knockouts of Jimi Manuwa and Ryan Bader.

Teixeira also came up short when he received his shot at the light heavyweight championship but his opponent was Jon Jones. Teixeira would lose the bout via a unanimous decision but has since gone on to win three of his last four fights.

As of this writing the UFC has yet to announce if they plan on finding a replacement for Teixeira or if they will remove him from the card altogether.
