This morning on ESPN’s “Sportscenter” is was reported that Brock Lesnar will meet Mark Hunt at UFC 200. The bout will be Lesnar’s first fight since retiring in 2011. The company announced the surprise return of Lesnar during the UFC 199 broadcast on Saturday night.
Lesnar (5-3) will return to the UFC after a five-year layoff. He retired from MMA after suffering a TKO loss to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141. During his 3-year run in the UFC, Lesnar claimed the heavyweight championship when he defeated Randy Couture. Lesnar’s stint in the UFC was short-lived and hindered by his bout with diverticulitis, an interstitial disease. Lesnar would return to professional wrestling where he went back to headlining multiple pay-per-view events for the WWE.
Lesnar is still under contract with the WWE but was granted the opportunity to compete at UFC 200. The professional wrestling company was sure to mention in a press release that Lesnar will be showcased at the “SummerSlam” event in August.
In Hunt (12-10-1), Lesnar will have no easy task ahead of him. The “Super Samoan” has made a career of knocking out his opponents in spectacular fashion. Hunt was most recently seen knocking out Frank Mir in the first round of their bout.
UFC 200 will take place on July 9th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
