Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey took to social media to break her silence after suffering her first career loss at UFC 193 this past Saturday.
Rousey lost her bantamweight title to Holly Holm in the second round when her challenger landed a vicious head kick that sent Rousey straight down to the canvas. Rousey did not attend the post fight press conferences because she was transported directly to the hospital immediately after the bout. She did not suffer a concussion but according to UFC president Dana White she did suffer a severely split lower lip that required surgery.
On Sunday Rousey took to her Instagram account to provide her fans an update on her health status.
Going into UFC 193 both Rousey and White had stated that she was going to step away from the sport and return just in time for UFC 200 which is tentatively scheduled to take place some time in July of 2016. Rousey has had one of the most active schedules of any of the UFC’s current champion. UFC 193 was her third title defense in the last nine months.
White has already hinted very strongly that when Rousey returns she will get an immediate rematch against Holm.
