When you set multiple striking records inside the octagon your hands are bound to be in some pain afterwards. UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has reportedly suffered a broken hand that will require surgery. There is no timetable on when she will return to action.
Jedrzejczyk was victorious at UFC 193 this past Saturday via a unanimous decision over Valerie Letourneau. During the bout Jedrzejczyk set a UFC title bout record by landing 220 significant strikes. She also landed 70 leg kicks which is a new record.
This is the second time that the strawweight champion has broken her hand. She suffered a break during her last title defense against Jessica Penne back in June. Hopefully injuries do not become a habit for Jedrzejczyk but if she continues to set striking records it will be hard to imagine her hands and feet not taking punishment as well.
