Getting a win inside the octagon is nice but getting a cash bonus to go along with that win is even better. The UFC handed out four $50,000 post fight bonus following Saturday night’s Fight Night event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Vitor Belfort, Thomas Almeida, Alex Oliveira, and Thiago Tavares all took home the extra cash for their performances.
Belfort, Almeida, and Oliveira each won their bout with a knockout while Tavares won his bout with a submission. Belfort’s knockout came in the first round of his main event bout against Dan Henderson. It was almost a replay of the last time they faced in 2013. Belfort landed head kick that sent Henderson to the canvas and the Brazilian pounced on his opponent with a barrage of punches that forced the referee to stop the bout.
The bantamweight division’s rising start Thomas Almeida lived up to the hype with a vicious knockout of Anthony Birchak in the first round. Almeida pushed his record to a perfect 20-0 and is quickly pushing his way to the top of the contender’s list.
Alex Oliveira continued his impressive 2015 with a knockout win of his own over Piotr Hallmann in the third round of their lightweight bout. Thiago Tavares made quick work of veteran Clay Guida with a guillotine choke in just 39-seconds of the opening round. It was the 14th submission victory of Tavares’ career.
