While there was plenty of action going on inside the cage on Saturday night at WSOF 22, some to the action spilled out into the crowd in the form of three UFC fighters. UFC lightweight standout Khabib Nurmagomedov got into a scuffle with the infamous Diaz brothers during the event.
The incident occurred when, according to reports, Nate Diaz ran up to Khabib and the two engaged in a heated conversation. Both men have been going at each other through social media and in interviews and it all finally came to ahead on Saturday night.
According to WSOF vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz, it was Nate who threw the first punch that ignited the full-out brawl. After the initial scuffle Nate’s older brother Nick Diaz decided to get involved and threw a beer at the face of Khabib. The beer toss started yet another brawl between the two sides.
The fight was eventually broken up by the police but not before video of the incident could be recorded by onlookers.
The incident was brought to the attention of UFC president Dana White at the UFC 190 post fight press conference to which he replied by saying,”I heard about it but I don’t know enough about it to speak about it.”
The UFC does have a fighter code of conduct policy in place and it will be interesting to see how the company handles three of their most known fighters cause such a disturbance at another MMA organization’s event.
