Jessica Andrade is looking to bounce back from her submission loss in February to Marion Reneau. The Brazilian fighter will get her chance against Canadian Sarah Moras. The women’s bantamweight bout will take place at UFC Fight Night in San Diego on July 15. The bout was announced by the UFC on Wednesday.
Andrade (12-4) made her debut for the UFC in 2013. She was welcomed by Liz Carmouche and it was not a warm one at that. Andrade lost her premiere bout via a TKO but she bounced back very nicely going on to win her next three bouts. She rolled off wins against Rosi Sexton, Raquel Pennington, and Larissa Pacheco. Andrade could not carry that win streak into 2015. She dropped her first bout of the year to 37-year old Reneau by submission in the first round. Andrade has never lost consecutive bouts in her career and will look to continue that trend against Sarah Moras.
Moras (4-1) will be making her second appearance in the UFC when she steps into the octagon against Andrade. The 27-year old Canadian last fought in July of 2014. In that bout she earned a unanimous decision victory over Alexis Dufresne. Moras has had a tough time staying active, she had three bouts in 2012 but did not compete again until 2014. She will not be making her 2015 debut until this bout in July. Hopefully after this bout Moras can get regular bouts and stay in a rhythm. She does on a win over TUF winner Julianna Pena when they met in 2012. The win can via doctor’s stoppage.
UFC Fight Night in San Diego will take place on July 15 at the Valley View Casino Center and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between former champion Frank Mir and Todd Duffee. Also on the card is a pair of lightweight bouts as Josh Thomson goes up against Tony Ferguson and Al Iaquinta will face Bobby Green.
