The UFC returned to Australia and time it was in the city of Adelaide. The fighters did not disappoint the crowd as 10 of the 12 fights ended it either a knockout or submission, including the night’s main event.
Heavyweights Stipe Miocic and Mark Hunt. The bout was anticipated to be a slugfest but it turned out to be a one-sided beat down as Miocic dominated Hunt from the start. Miocic used his grappling skills to bring Hunt him down and used serious ground and pound to inflect all the damage. Miocic set a UFC record for total strikes with 361, the previous record holder was Chael Sonnen at 320 total strikes in his bout against Anderson Silva.
Between the fourth and fifth round a cage side doctor asked Hunt if he could continue, of course Hunt said he was fine but that prompted others to once again ask about fighter’s safety. Just under the three-minute mark of the fifth round Miocic was finally able to put away Hunt for good earning himself the TKO victory. It was an impressive rebound for Miocic who as last seen losing a decision against Junior Dos Santos back in December.
