It is always nice to walk away from a UFC event with a win but what can make the feeling even better is knowing that you have earned an extra bonus to take home with you. For Luke Rockhold, Max Holloway, Gian Villante, and Corey Anderson they all can go home knowing they earned an extra $50,000 for their performances.
Rockhold earned his performance bonus by dominating former champion Lyoto Machida on the ground and scoring a rear-naked choke victory. Rockhold only needed two rounds to submit Machida and looked completely fresh after the fight. The win was Rockhold’s fourth consecutive as he is positioning himself as the next in line for the UFC’s middleweight championship.
Young Max Holloway was impressive in his win over tough veteran Cub Swanson. Holloway was able to use movement and his striking to keep Swanson guessing and eventually took the fight on the ground and scored a submission victory. Holloway is only 23 years old and is the only man in the UFC to go the distance against Conor McGregor.
Finally both Gian Villante and Corey Anderson were awarded for their action packed fight on the preliminary card. After the two men exchanged a barrage of strikes in the first two rounds, it was Villante who scored the biggest blow of the bout with a right hand that sent Anderson stumbling. Villanelle finished the fight with punches that Anderson could not defined and thus forcing the referee to stop the fight.
