Heavyweights Clash as Duffee vs. Mir Set for Fight Night

Be careful what you wish for in the UFC because you just might get it. Todd Duffee got his wish on Wednesday when it was announced on “UFC Tonight” that he will be facing Frank Mir in the main event of a Fight Night card. The bout is scheduled to take place on July 27th at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.

Duffee has been very public of his desire to face Mir stating that the former heavyweight champion should give an opportunity to fighters outside of the top ten rankings. Duffee is currently not ranked in the top 15 while Mir is ranked 10th in the division. Duffee was last seen earning a 33-second knockout victory over Anthony Hamilton at UFC 181 in December of last year.

Frank Mir once again proved all doubters wrong by ending a four fight losing streak with a knockout victory over Antonio “Big Foot” Silva. At 35 years old, Mir could not have likely survived another loss in the UFC but he rose to the challenge and made quick work of “Big Foot”. Now he meets 29-year-old Duffee who has nine career KO/TKO victories. This bout will truly be a representation of the new generation versus the old genteration in the UFC’s heavyweight division.
