No Surprise Here; Cowboy Cerrone Offers Up Services to Fight Nurmagomedov

Once news broke yesterday of Tony Ferguson pulling out of his bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov because of an injury, MMA fans knew it was only a matter of time before Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone would offer his services as a replacement.

Cerrone has built a reputation of being willing to take any fight no matter how short the notice may be. After making his way to the top of the contender’s list in the lightweight division he came up short against champion Rafael Dos Anjos and decided to move up to welterweight.

Cerrone has never had issues in the past making weight and always seems to be in fighting shape and has made it known that he wants to remain as active as possible. You can see the exchange he had on Twitter with reporter Ariel Helwani below.

Cerrone is currently scheduled to face Patrick Cote on June 18 in Canada and according to reports the Cowboy has one stiputlation if the UFC gives him the opportunity to face Nurmagomedov. Cerrone is asking that his fight with Cote still go on as scheduled.

The UFC has yet to officially comment on wheather or not they are actively seeking a replacement for Nurmagomedov or if he will be placed on a later event.

The fact that Cerrone wants to tough fights that are seperated by only two months is something to be admired. The man has a work ethic like no other we have seen in MMA.
