One of the UFC’s most popular women’s fighters is set to return to action and she will have a tough test ahead of her. Rose Namajunas will meet Karolina Kowalkeiwicz in UFC 201 in July. The fight was announced late on Monday.
Namajunas (5-2) is currently riding a three fight win streak that has seen her slow down the hype train of Paige VanZant and end the undefeated streak of Tecia Torres. Many thought that a title shot would be next for “Thug” but it seems as though the UFC wants to slowly develop the former “Ultimate Fighter” runner-up.
In Kowalkeiwicz (9-0) will find another undefeated fighter who is coming off two very impressive unanimous decision victories. Kowalkeiwicz made her UFC debut last December when she met Randa Markos and she followed that up with a win over Heather Clark in May. Kowalkeiwicz hail from Poland, the same country as current strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
UFC 201 will take place on July 30th from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia and will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley.
