The ever outspoken Chael Sonnen will lend his vocal talents to the World Series of Fighting for a select few events. It was announced on Tuesday that Sonnen will join the commentary team for the organization starting with WSOF 23 on September 18.
“We are thrilled to have Chael Sonnen, one of the most colorful individuals in professional sports, join our production,” stated WSOF President Ray Sefo a press release. “We are confident Chael will enhance the fan viewing experience both for our growing national audience on NBCSN and across the globe by providing the insights he learned competing at the highest level of the sport.”
Sonnen will fill in for Bas Rutten on the color commentary due to his prior commitment with AXS TV. Sonnen began is analyst career working with Fox Sports during “UFC Tonight” and serving as an in studio analyst for Fight Night cards. He was let go from Fox Sports following news that he had failed multiple drug tests.
Sonnen has gone on to host his own podcast titled “You’re Welcome! With Chael Sonnen” and serves as an analyst for ESPN.
WSOF 23 will be held on September 18 from the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona. The event will be headlined by a lightweight title rematch between Justin Goethe and Luis Palomino. The card will air live on the NBC Sports Network.
