An important heavyweight bout between Stipe Micoic and Ben Rothwell is set to take place in Dublin, Ireland on the UFC’s Fight Night card. The event is scheduled to take place on October 24.

Miocic (13-2) was on the verge of a title shot before losing a closely contested bout against Junior Dos Santos back in December of 2014. The fight was considered by many as one of the best fights of the year. Miocic bounced back from the loss with a TKO win over Mark Hunt. The Cleveland fighter has compiled a 7-2 record in the UFC and is one impressive win away from earning a crack at UFC gold.

Rothwell (35-9) is a veteran of over 40 professional MMA bouts and is currently riding a three fight win streak. During his win streak he as two knockout wins and one submission victory. This current consecutive win streak is the first time that Rothwell has put together multiple wins in a row while in the UFC.

Miocic is currently the ranked third in the official rankings while Rothwell has moved up to the sixth spot. The winner of this bout is very likely to be on the very short list of fighters who will receive a title shot in the heavyweight division.

UFC Fight Night in Dublin, Ireland will be held at the 3Arena on October 24 and is expected to air exclusively on the UFC Fight Pass.
