Diego Sanchez to Debut at Featherweight Against Ricardo Lamas

Season one TUF winner Diego Sanchez is set to compete in his fourth different weight class in the UFC. It was announced on Wednesday that Sanchez will make his featherweight debut against Ricardo Lamas at the UFC Fight Night card in Monterrey, Mexico on November 21.

While in the UFC Sanchez has competed in the middleweight, welterweight, and lightweight divisions. He was a former title challenger in the lightweight division but was beaten by then champion BJ Penn.

Sanchez (25-7) has been plagued by injuries and inconsistency over the past few years. In his last five bouts he has gone 2-3 with both wins coming by razor-thin decisions. He will get a stern test in Ricardo Lamas who is a former title challenger in the featherweight division and is currently ranked number 4 in the UFC’s official divisional rankings.

Lamas (15-4) is coming off a knockout loss to Chad Mendes back in April but prior to that he had won two consecutive bouts first against Hacran Dias and then Dennis Bermudez.

UFC Fight Night is slated to take place on November 21 at the Monterrey Arena in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
