Bellator MMA had a busy Monday in terms of singing new fighters to its roster. Along with inking lightweight Melvin Guillard, the company announced the signing of a pair of heavyweight fighters. Ewerton Teixeira and Lorenzo “The Samoan Silverback” Hood are the newest editions to the heavyweight roster that has the likes of champion Vitaly Minakov, Bobby Lashley, Cheick Kongo, and Alexander Volkov.
Ewerton Teixeira is a former K-1 champion and competed in the kickboxing circuit for over a decade before trying his hand at MMA full time in 2012. Thus far Teixeira has compiled a 3-0 record with one knockout victory.
Lorenzo Hood is a product of the Blackzilians fight camp and has an impressive 9-2 record with all of his wins coming by way of knockout. All of his 11 professional fights have never went past the first round. At only 26 years old Hood may be a long-term project for Bellator as they try to add much-needed depth to their heavyweight roster.
